A double digit birthday

Our fourth child (third daughter) turned 10! How did a decade pass by in the twinkling of an eye?
She celebrated at one of those jumpy places with just a few of her favorite friends and lots of family. She does not like huge crowds of people (kind of like her mom!) and just wanted to have fun with those most important to her.
One of her favorite things to do is read. She wants to read all the time!! So....she asked for a "book cake". I struggled with this for a long time and was talking to the six year old at breakfast the day before the party and telling him that I was trying to figure out how to make it. He told me, "Mom, a book is just a rectangle with a line down the middle!" What a little genius!! :o) I used a regular cake pan, came up with a fun little start to a book, and made a bookmark out of fondant. The birthday girl LOVED it!! And it was totally easy thanks to the six year old.
No birthday party is complete without a sleepover! This is breakfast the next morning.
Mickey Mouse chocolate chip waffles - a must have!
All of the 10 year olds favorite breakfast food - what more could one ask for
I still can't believe she is 10!

What finer thing is there in the world than a thoughtful mother who makes her daughter's DAY more than special?! I admire your sweet creativity. A gorgeous cake...and I'm sure yummy too! :)
